Western Plaguelands are situated in the former kingdom of Lordaeron, neighboured to Tirisfal Glades and Alterac Mountains. This place was once beautiful, with lush fertile farmlands which are now shrouded in a grey mist. The creatures here lurk amongst the trees, fighting anyone that encroaches on their territory. In this land you will find the undead that scatter across northern Andorhal, infesting the surrounding fields. Although the plague consumed Lordaeron, the Western Plaguelands are gradually shaking off their misfortune and the land is beginning to heal thanks to the efforts of the Argent Dawn.
The music begins with low strings that gradually rise, and the harp plays broken chords creating a calming atmosphere but with a modest sense of danger. A male choir and brass crescendo their way into the piece creatings a grand impression of honour and service of the fallen kingdom. The transition to a grand orchestral arrangement displays the hope of Western Plaguelands as it takes back what was rightfully theirs, but descends back into a tumultuous string melody backed by ominous brass, militaristic snares and loud, beckoning tubular bells. It is an arrangement which is consistent across the regions that make up the former kingdom of Lordaeron, creating an impression of danger, a solemn sense of loss but also a lingering hope.
